Baroque & Roll

KDPA were invited to convert a prominent Grade II listed former bank at the heart of Preston into a flagship venue that would seamlessly transform from a destination bar & restaurant during the day to a glamourous club venue at night.

With the buildings heritage & grandeur underpinning the design brief KDPA researched the original scheme and using historical photographs began the process of reintroducing key details that had long since disappeared but with a contemporary twist. One example was the complete reconstruction of an ornate moulded coffered ceiling that had been the casualty of an extension in the 1970’s. KDPA took the opportunity to install hidden mechanical services & fully programmable, animated LED lighting system that would be hidden from view yet transform the ceiling at night.

Rooms previously inaccessible to the public include the bank vaults now transformed into private dining rooms, the brick vaulted basement areas converted into toilets & former office space now a distinct dining area leading out to an unexpected oasis of a sophisticated external terrace served by it’s own outside bar.

Following the refurbishment & reconfiguration the scheme now fulfils the client’s vision for a high impact flexible environment with multi-use movable furniture that can transform the space from glamourous pub into glamourous club.
