kdpa have designed a multi layered landscaped roof garden as part of a City centre redevelopment in Exeter. The three storey roof terrace occupies redundant roof space and a plant deck, whilst a series of cuts to the existing building fabric allow for additional access and a folding glass rear elevation forges a new relationship with the terrace. On the mid-level, a ‘loggia’ space has been created, forming a carefully framed vista of one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture anywhere in the world – the nearby Exeter Cathedral.
